Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art that involves a series of gentle physical movements. It is frequently described as meditation in motion – also medication in motion. It promotes serenity and is a mind-body intervention. From a physical standpoint, Tai Chi helps improve balance, agility, posture, breath, and more. It can be used for the treatment and prevention of psychosomatic disorders involving stress, such as hypertension, respiratory ailments, gastrointestinal problems, headaches, pain, dermatitis, ulcers, and more.
Tai Chi as a relaxation intervention is known to benefit anxiety, depression, blood pressure, to improve immune function, to increase blood levels of endorphins which interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body.
Wear comfortable athletic clothing and sneakers. Program is geared for adults; interested teens are welcome.
